ELLIS SPEED SHOP "DIRT BIKE" - KLUNKER COMP

Scratching my itch for a klunker/cruiser BMX of sorts along with some others this time around to build the ELLIS SPEED SHOP "DIRT BIKE", check in here if you want to compete to recreate the shot below.

The Frame - Schwinn Heavy Duti (got from Chuck)

The Fork - SE Landing Gear 26" 1-1/8 threadless

The Tires - Kenda Krad 26"x1.95"

The Wheels -
F /Joytech hub w/red skewered Q/R axle laced to a black singlewall Alex rim
R / Bendix 2 speed Manual hub laced to a Rigida 26" hoop

The Bars - Flat black Moto-bars from a Sun Spyder (got from Doublenickel)

The Grips - Orange Cult/Vans waffle grips

The Brakes -
F - Double bent red Diacompe lever, red Diacompe 1020, orange spiral housing
R - Coaster

The Shifter -
Diacompe 128 locking lever (Double Nickel), generic yellow spiral housing, 333 knuckle, cable barrel and shift pin

The Stem - Silver Porkneck (got from PorkchopBMX)

The Seat - Felt V12 (got from Tater)

The Post - Bulletproof Rail adapter, upside down generic steel black seat post, Wald Shim

The Clamp - Generic Aluminum Q/R

The Sprocket - Mongoose Silver Anodized 38t

The Chain - KMC nickel plated



The Crank - Generic black One-Piece Crank

The Pedals - Red VP Aluminum

The Bearings -
Headset - Cane Creek cartdridge
BB - Wald caged bearings

The Accessories
Decals - In the works
Shifter Guard - Tioga slanted frame standers
Bottle Cage - used freebie from LBS
Numberplate - H/W style
Valve Caps - Orange H/W Crossflag, Dudds Di
Bar Pad - In the works

May make a couple substitutions in there but shouldn't be too far off. :wink:

I did manage to clean out the rear hub last night and ended up breaking the shifter rod, replacement on the way.

Ive been ready for a month or two I think, Im going to go out in the shed and have this things won by morning :wink:

It's a locking brake lever, I just need it to pull on the toggle enough to switch gears, the spring in the hub will hold tension on the cable keeping it "locked" in place. (Fingers crossed of course)

The rail adapter is a bmx thing I believe. It is kind of limited in adjustment though so if its a fancy angled post you might be pushing your luck on the seat angle.

Looks like you have everything you need! A couple of hours in the workshop putting it together and you should be done. What are you going to do for the remaining 3 months? :wink:

done for tonight ... will finish grinding off whats left of the chain guard tabs tomorrow, and mess with the cables tomorrow probably. I think I'm going to weld the old c/g tab to the frame stander and bolt the coaster arm to it. The duct tape will come out later though :wink:

Not enough experience with a mustache I'm afraid, my chin beard was whipping something fierce though driving around for work with the windows down yesterday ... think I may stick with what I know :lol:
