Well, what a fun thing to deal with. First my steer tube was too short work with the 1 1/8 adapters so I had to order the longer one. I order it, specifically asking Bicycle Designer if it would work with my setup as they referenced my exact order number with an undoubtedly yet it will work.

Guess what?

It doesn't WORK! They sold me a a steer tube that accepts a 13/16 stem, not a 7/8. So now I'm out ANOTHER 3 days at least, if not another 30 dollars to get the damn thing.

I'll start a thread up over that-a-way. I've found a stem on an old bike, so that's a plus! I start work next week if all goes as planned so I am looking for a seatpost and seat, as well as maybe a few items to give the bike some character. I'm thinking about a paracord wrap on the upper frame and handle bars but I don't want it to look military.

You can see the frame rust, and the collection of parts to go on it. The adapter fit perfectly fine and everything else will as well soon as the new steer tube comes in. Here's a mock up as well.

If i was you , i would just polish + wax or clear the rust and add a nice pintstripe that take advantage of the "tank style" top tube shape .. or mabe part candy color part rusty could be sick too
(edit)Oups! did it again:whistle:

Ya, I thought of the pinstriping. May get that done next month at the truck show. I cleared the rust but it got a little hazy/milky for whatever reason. It isn't a huge deal. If I like how the frame feels riding it, it will probably get stripped and powdered later this year.

maybe its just the rust roughtness that creat that hazy look ? a wet sand and re-coat (inside with no wind) would give it the shine ...
