First build

Hey people,

Newbie here, was about to get off to bed (2am here) but, got all excited and thought I'd do a brief rundown of my project with pictures

This is what the bike looked like

Big bit of card got a rough shape drawn on it, then started bending and tacking

Got the rough shape sorted

found some old bars from a small motorbike

Also put on a small chopper seat with a couple of stems and half a seat pan to support the rear end

Funky little LED front light

Bars, in retrospect, next time I'll pull them back a little at the top bends. They're welded at the bottom as I couldn't get a sharp enough bend at the bottom

So this is what it currently looks like

and this is it's maiden voyage with an unfit fat bloke riding it (click on the pic to view the vid)



So, I've now tidied up a bunch of the welds and put bodyfiller over a couple of bits to make them nice and smooth. Then it's tidying it all up, spraying it, and away we go! NEXT

I'm easy either way mate, I just didn't want to get in trouble just as soon as I get on the board LOL

I'm teaching myself all of it mate, so, if I can do it, anyone can. Treat yourself to a little mig unit and practice practice practice

Thanks mate, I should have pulled the grips part of them back a little for comfort really, but, they're all good in the mean time

So what have I been up to today ....

Added a brace to the crank, also painted everything black (interesting when mixing the different types of black I had)...

However, I put it all back together again (excitedly), had a sod of a time with the chain, then realised why. When welding the brace onto the front downtube and crank itself, it got pulled over a small amount, now meaning the chain is a slight angle to the sprocket. This means it's not going as well as it did before - FECKIN' ANNOYING!

I'm going to give it some welly with a lumphammer and see if that helps, or it'll be a slice with the grinder to create enough of a gap to bend it into.

To be honest Dean I think they look better for having that straight welded bar at the bottom. You could always cut the bars further down the vertical section and stick some narrower pipe inside to join them. Then you could pull them back at the top/grips to get the angle you want before welding them back up at the join?

I think I'm going to leave the bars as is, it's good to know for next time though. In a strange way I think they kind of suit the bike. The next build has inch and a quarter tube as opposed to inch, that looks better too IMO.

Hey, it's a learning process and I'm loving it!

No idea how to price this to sell it though, any ideas?

One thing I am aware of is the seat is a £60 (maybe 90 usd?), I'd rather not change it out, but, if I'm not going to get much for the bike then I want to make the seat money back at least.

I'd be interested in your opinion for price though
