agreed that bottom bar needs work. another thought would be to shorten the steer tube of the frame and shorten the top section of the fork. it looks a bit "thick" there. i dig it and i think it has big potential

I'm gonna rework that bottom bar for sure, i like how it is on the buzzbomb.
I picked that steer tube because of it's lenght(kinda thought it would be "freaky"different),
I know it might end up looking odd on there but i would like to keep it, at least untill I redone the rest of the frame and see how it looks.
I was thinkin that maybe i should make the handlebars come of the bottom of the steertube instead of the top.
but I also think lets not go too crazy on my first build and get this one right first(keep it sort of classic looking, and do the next one freaky style).

Few of my vw Pic's;

This is how it looked when I got it;

you can see more of my vw and its build progress by following the links in my signature.

Wow! That´s beautiful!!
Only a couple pics of mine, so I don´t hijack the thread...

I love the hebmuller´s look, but mine was in such bad shape when I got it that went this way... maybe I´ll try something like that with the next one :wink:
Good luck with yours, is looking great!!

Its a '71.

I will rework the bottom tube first and see what it "needs" from there I had some usefull tip's allready,
I will level it out when framework is done,awaiting my order of welding wire at the moment.

mines a 74' standard rat lowered 3 inches from the gound in the front 4 1/2 in the back with a 1600. i cant wait to see this bike finished

Ohhh shoot,
Friday I tried to level all the frame tubes by using a small jack.
in my enthousiasm i went a bit too crazy and the frame cracked on several places.
(down tube,top tube and all 4 stays, :shock: )
Must have been my first ever welds too a bit I think. :oops:
Its not beyond repair but i need to review the frame I wanted and start something over.
I've been gathering some cool stuff since i start building.
bought me a new Lepper seat, and some other stuff that would have looked cool on this bike.

Still got 2 frames lying around for parts to get this bike on the road, but i think it will look different then i had imagined at first.

Been working on the "Molested" though, that thing I made some good progress on today.
no pictures in that topic too though, girlfriend is on businesstrip and took the photocamera.
But its crazy lookin.

better the welds crack now, than when you're riding it. my friend had some forks snap and he landed on his chin. it hurt quite a bit as you can imagine.

I'm working on the molested now that turned out to be a much smoother build and seem to take my ideas a lot better, turned out to look like a early kinda motorcycle in the end.but with all the stuff i added to that and will be adding, its gonna be to heavy/bulky to resamble a boardtracker. Maybe more of a streetracer kinda thing.
I'm paying more attention to my welding too.
soon i have too start on my VW aswell so the original boardtrackbuild(first time build) will be a side project to the VW then.
and i want this bike to become a better build than the molested.

Budel VW meeting, next weekend?

This build is not written of..... if anyone wondered.
I scored another dumpsterfind and the frame has a tube i'm going to use.
(the bent one)

The Gazelle in the back i found abondoned alongside the road with a bad smashed up frontfork,
it was there for a while because where it was broken it had a lot of rust already.
so i figured i could bring it home and give it some tlc,
got a raleigh front fork to replace the broken one.

been gathering stuff for this "first time build"
and for some other builds too;

the crate is for the "electra mix up" build.
"dia de los muertos" has no box, that stuff is all over the livingroom floor! :D
allong with the electra frame and 2 other bikes :shock:

Thanx Char!

today i picked up my wheel, i had a S.A. 3 speed laced (size 13 spoke) in this old cargobike rim.
( weighs 4 kg all together :shock: )
but i love the way it came out, i have a matching front hub and another rim first save some money.

you're gonna LOVE that shifter!!

I cant wait to use it!

if i take a look at all the parts i gathered for this build so far, and i look at the frame i made(still wrecked).
I'm really thinking about getting a new basman sport frame for these parts.

@balroomwrecker, belgium rocks!!
Can't wait for rock-a-billy day.....
