flat tanks

I have seen many rat's with a panel in the arch of the frame. I am new here I think they call it a flat tank. I would like to add it to my bike and would like some input from you guys on how to do it, what material ect.

Some guys use wood some use metal but you can use anything really just cut to fit

I made a cardboard cutout first to get the shape right. Then used a sharpie to outline it on a sheet of metal from Home Depot.

I've made a few and like already said, cardboard first then trace on to metal. Cut it out with an angle grinder. I generally use old steel and aluminum signs I come across.

thanks for the link Turtle, I have have the cardboard templete cut fits good. I also have a roll of brown shipping paper, I thought I would trace the templete a few time on the paper and work on some ideas for art before actually cutting the final material for the tank. Still thinking wood but plexi might be an option too.

Its commonly called a tank panel. I used a panel of 14 gauge steel and cut it out using a cardboard template.
