Turns out there are standards for foam density.

Looking for the more dense foam used on mattress saddles from the 1970s. Any suggestions.

I have no idea what the bikes used, but you can buy different thicknesses of foam in smallish sheets from motorcycle shops or Amazon - they are cut to shape and used with fiberglass race bodywork instead of the factory seats. They come with adhesive backing usually too.

Got a salvage yard nearby? You would be blown away by how many grades of seating foam are in automotive seats across brands and years. Front seat bottom, backs, and rear seats have varieties too. Find one with a ripped seat they can’t sell whole and use a serrated knife
