Because he said it had a 1949 build, wouldn't it be the http://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1941_1950/1949_19.html?

I have a green one with the same light with a March 1949 build and with a Kauffman's department store head badge but with the Schwinn logo on the tank and chain guard.

Its hard to put anything in the 100% sure category with schwinns it seems, due to the sprocket and chainguard im guessing this was either meant for the next model year or some sort of "transition" bike were parts were used as they came in or ran out and something else was smacked on the bike to get it out. none the less the "equipment" is the same as the cycleplane in the ad so it very could have been intended as one.

just guesswork is all

If this site http://www.angelfire.com/rant/allday101 ... odes2.html is right my bike has a build date of 11/7/49. Not sure if that makes it a '49 or '50 model and maybe thats why it seems like a hybrid of different models. The other odd thing is if you look at the serial numbers used in '49 they all have a F prefix beside for parts of 4 days.

11/03 ------------------ F309648 ---------------- S312650
11/04 ------------------ S312651 ---------------- S315855
11/07 ------------------ S315856 ---------------- S318300
11/08 ------------------ S318301 ---------------- S321357
11/10 ------------------ F321358 ---------------- F326178

The numbers continue in sequence and only the prefix changes. I know there are Schwinn "experts" out there and hope that they find this post and can shed some light on this for me. Im not a Schwinn guy at all and just want to know what I have and if maybe it should go to someone who is a Schwinn guy. -Brian
