I like a little rust on my bare metal, especially when it was originally built in 1941

Sweet rust, sweet bike. What method do you use? Do you clear over your rust? I like the almost purple color it has.

These bare metal bikes are really cool.
I just picked up a 1939 Schwinn DX straight bar frame that has been taken down to bare metal,but
it has alot of brown spots,and minor surface rust.
I want to build one using this frame.
Can anyone recommend what is the best method to get it really looking clean,bare metal?
Wire wheel,steel wool (what grade?) and should I finish it off with clear coat to prevent surface rust?
What type of clear coat?

I wandered how you guys got the paint of your bikes. I used a paint remover and a lot of scraping. I want to do another frame, but would like an easier and less messy way.
As soon as I learn how to up-load a pic of my bike I will add one : )

Wire brush cup in an angle grinder is my preferred method, make sure you are using eye protection though!

I used CitrusStrip for the bulk of it, then used a grinder with a wire wheel for the rest.
