Hello everyone. Over the years I have received a lot of questions regarding GIRVIN/NOLEEN forks. I am hoping this thread can be a place where we pool our knowledge and creativity. Please contribute. Thank you.

A BIG OL' FATTY

In the photo above an 80mm wide X 24" fat bike rim is being tested to fit a Girvin/Noleen Crosslink fork.

Can you run 80mm wide rims with Grivins? You can if you shave the brake bosses. I would also suggest adding 2 nylon washers at each mounting points to give you a bit more of a spread. You also can't run too tall of a tire. I may run this set up on my next Felt build.

24" or 26" Wheels?

ROLLING ON 24s?

You can have either but your 24s will make you work for it.

(More pics to come because my iPad is not my camera)
The blue bike is running 57mm wide 24" rims and sporting 24x3" tires. The brake mounts have to be cut down near the wheels or totally shaved. If you want a super clean look shave them but be careful because I have heard the metal is thin.

You are lucky. You don't need to modify the forks at all. I feel like I should type more. Just have a look at the photo(s).

Can you even guess what these red things are? I put them on a lot of bikes.

A huge benefit of running Girvins is that you can turn. You also don't need a wrench to adjust the shock. The fork tubes kept hitting the tank so I wanted to save the nice polish and powder coating from damage. Languishing in my tool box were some unused C-clamp jaw pads from Harbor Freight tools. Exact fit! Problem solved.

CABLE GUY!

If your Girvins were acquired without the cable guides fear not. The electrical cable organizers are from Lowe's Home Improvement Center and come in black & white. They are also infinitely affordable and they just screw on.

I'VE GOT A SHINER [emoji44]

Girvins polish beautifully. The man in Van Nuys, CA charged $100 for the forks which included disassembled and reassembly. It looks great. He and his crew chemically stripped the paint and polished them to perfection for my "She's The Bomber" bike. If I had the proper polishers and another bike or two to do it might be worthy buying the sand papers, and other various chemicals and doing it myself. One day, I might be as good as these guys but not as quick.

HERE'S A SHOCKER

Some Girvins came with a really trick K2 shock. Like the magnetosomethingorother shocks on the new Ferraris, Corvettes, Cadillac, or classic Citroens? You might like these. This shock adjusts as you ride. Witchcraft!!! (One of my upcoming builds will be called "Witchcraft."

Thinking of mounting Felt's Zig Zag tires with a set of Girvins? You are going to need spacers. Too bad. I really like the tread pattern.

I could have sworn that I posted on this thread already?

I need one of these shocks. Club members could no longer say there is a dummy on my bike.

If you are sending your fork out for powder coating or polishing disassemble it yourself or it may come back improperly assembled or worse, missing parts.
