So Littlebluetrike and I set off for a ride late this afternoon. Temp was in the 60s, awesome for Kansas in late December! After a nice cruise down the bike path, we spied some bikes in someones back yard. We looped around down an alley to get to the owners front door. It was at this time I got the first compliment about our bikes I'd ever heard. LBT was riding her stock '68 Town and Country trike and I was on my rat '37 Schwinn, some dude walkin' down the street looked at her, at me then said. "Now, y'all got some real bikes there." I thanked him for his appreciation for our rides. The house we were looking for was easy to find, it had a "Bicycle Repair Shop" sign in front of it. (no need for that in my household). The house was dark, so we decided to go out back. There was the bike repair shop with a sign on it saying that the owner had gone duck hunting (man, I love Kansas!) So we poked around anyway. There was a Worksman with some light rusting on it's chrome, and a couple of older girls Road Masters (w/skip tooth). I'd love to score that Worksman!
Thank's for readin' about my day!

Glad to see that I'm not the only one that took advantage of that beautiful weather. I hope you can score the worksman. Have a Happy New Year!

It was 67 degrees an I was totally pushing the ride. We have to ride, we have to ride, we have to ride! We got our errands and lunch done as fast as we were able to do them.
I'm a country girl so I'm always up for looking at the small town sites down the bike path. And another amusement for me was to see the vast amount of Canadian Geese. There were so many of them that they caused visual illusions.
I hit an oopsie at the first block. I had gotten one of my bungee cords stuck on the left axle (if facing my trike) of my right (non hub) back wheel. And the metal piece of the bungee somehow got wrapped around the axle and then the bungee part tightly wrapped around the axle, the other half was attached to my trike basket, and I didn't notice that til I completely stopped.
A couple of my spokes got slightly bent but the bungee was completely totaled.. Can you tell what was made in China and Made in USA. So my portable Mr-Bike-Fix-it man whipped out his pocket knife, snapped the bungee and unwound it and I was ready to go :D
So lesson learned, never take those bungee cords for granted, they might do something stupid.
Otherwise the ride was fantastic and he received his first compliment from a stranger :D

I haven't got a hold of the owner of the Worksman yet. We did talk to his wife. She said he probably wouldn't sell his Worksman and she definitely wouldn't sell HER skip tooth Road Master!

It's truly sad the way they just have them leaning there to rust outside. Reminds me when we were checking out a estate sale a week ago we saw an old skip tooth bike chained to a tree a across the street. And we talked to the owner of the house and it was a bike her husband's aunt had.. And it was just so sad to see it in disrepair rusting in the outer climate. If its such a important bike in the family, why treat it that way? Seriously.
