Got my elgin! need help with year and model

Picked this sweet elgin up today!! original paint!! everything is there except front light and pedals. I was told it was a 1940 can anyone cofirm or give me some knowledge? not sure what the model is. still has original sears model number sticker, but couldnt find any info on it. Thanks guys.

anyone know a site for looking at elgin pics. im having a hard time finding a photo like this bike. i found a pic of a red one similar to this that is a 1940. which is the year i was told this was.

Thats older, 37 8 or 9.

yers looks exactly like mine, only a LOT nicer.
i recall reading that the elgin went to a curved down tube in '38 so the straight down tube(yours) would be a '37.
dunno if that's true. i'm no expert. i just read it somewhere on the interweb.
