I'm out and amongst the masses almost everyday. I don't think I ever make it through the day without hearing something like ... the young people of today are rude, destructive and just don't give a crap about anything! I sometimes get caught up in this gibberish and at times agree to what I'm hearing. But then I get thinking about hearing the same thing when I was a kid. I feel that alot of young adults have to take "the hit" for all of the people in their age group and it's not fair!
I'm very lucky and privileged to be in a hobby that truely has no age, race, or gender barriers. I'm also very fortunate to live in an area that has so many young people interested in what we do. Within two to three hours Gigs and I could be at the door of Schwinnmesa, Stretch, Ricky or Flying Dingo (all of whom are teenagers) and have some of the greatest rides in the state! These guys (and many like them) are our hobby's future. They sometimes seem alot older than they really are and actually give me a reality check when meeting them. I've met all the guys that I've named and everyone of them has been a ball to hang out with. In the FBM-GL we have many more kids and young adults on our rides than any other type of social bike clubs in our area. They are all very respectful and courteous of others. On any given ride you'll see a youg kid talking (and holding a conversation) with one of the old guys. No one talks down to each other or treats them differently.
In a day and age when alot of kids are becoming a problem, our group of young adults are taking the hobby to the next level, learning some skills, showing the world that there is hope for our future and making me proud to call them MY FRIENDS!
Thanks,
Chainy

I agree with you Chainy. I have never met any of them, but they all present themselves online.

People have been saying that forever, It often seems to me they just choose to forget the reality of the past. Times and kids are different for sure, but worse? I don't think so.

Chainy, I appreciate your kindness as well as the entertainment expressed through the Freak Bike Militia events and the folks here at Rat Rod Bikes. The courtesy just blows me away. It is that value that makes us teenagers respectful towards our elders and is what reinforces the golden rule, which I'm sure that Stretch, TheFlyingDingo, and Ricky can relate to. So really, without the respect and pure awesomeness from you & Giggles and all of the other great people from FBM and RRB, the fun would not exist.

Thank you,
Zach. 8)

heck half the time i forget that some of the young guys on here are just that(since they act alot more mature than i ever have  )
personally im glad to see young kids into anything since as stated before the next generation is the future of this and many other things and from what ive seen its going to be going strong for a long time

Being a young whipper-snapper myself, thanks.

If it weren't for the stoodgy old farts to give me chance, I would have picked up botanical basket weaving. At least my faucets wouldn't be covered in grease.

As long as they stay off my lawn and dont eat my fig newtons....As far as bad rap we all got it when we were teenagers. Me and my wife have been youth pastors for the past two years, but we are taking a break as life has been a little overwhelming lately but enough of that, What I am trying to say is as a kid I would pay attention to my elders and try to learn something. Behind my house as a kid there was a shop that thes two doctors worked on they're stock cars nothing big name but for a kid it could have just as well been the Petty's purple and white 66 Chevelles , but I paid attention and gave them respect and they gave me a Muncie three speed for my first car (63 GMC Carryall) after I killed the Saginaw the first three weeks I got it on the road. Today I tell the kids in the neighborhood if you need any bike parts let me know alot of times I will just give it to them or if its worth something I will just tell them to pay me when they can, If they dont ,I figure they needed it more than me. But I haven't had a problem I just show a little respect and trust and it usually comes back. There is too many households these days where the parent of the house wont give his or her children the time of day much less help them fix a flat tire....very sad....thats another reason I pray!!!

thanks chainy, thats really touching. i just act how my parents raised me..respect elders, heck just respect everyone. as long as they dont give you a reason not to, respect. and a lot of(99%) my fellow classmates are the ones everyone is gripping about. on another note.. it just feels so cool that someone thats a lot older then you, talks to you on the same level. im looking forward to meet more members in the future. thanks everyone for treating me and every other teen on here like an equal. biking truely has no barriers of race, religion, sex, or anything inbetween. but if your a jerk, we dont like you.

Hey chainsaw, Im only 2 hours away but Im a 40ish teenager. But seriously dont let a few bad apples spoil the bushel. I feel the opposite way, most of the teenagers I see today seem alot better than the kids I was around at that age. It seems that teens have to grow up quicker than when I was a kid. Maybe its the faster paced, just add water, instant society we live in these days.

that's cool. And not to call him out for being young, but I gotta give props to Chris (Unchained). He brings a lot of knowledge and ideas to the table, and has a lot more skills than I or a lot of other people had at that age.
