First batch 50/50 brake cleaner and dexron 111 transmission juice. Light scrub with scotch bright pad and wipe down to clean up.
Then a few coats of straight atf after that once or twice a day for a couple days.
Not sure on the long term? But it's a trick gokart racers use to soften tyres.

Brake clean in a spray can, such nasty stuff. Do you mix the atf and brake clean in a container and apply or could you clean em with brake clean and immediately apply the atf? Any liquid substitute for the brake clean work? Maybe lacquer thinner or even goo gone.

We get brake clean as a liquid in 20ltr drum, and use in spray bottles. So I just mix 50/50 in a tub and brush on.
I would think acetone, or similar would work well also.

Hardtail version is the 'SE'. 98 99 from what I can find out. It's definitely an odd looking thing for a Hardtail.

Couple hours on the stand, bunch of hand me downs, and onto the trails

Went full rigid. Fitted up some landing gear forks, Kore stem and riser bars. I posted it on a local retro mtb page and got a bunch of hate for the frame, So it made me want to throw a bunch of way too good parts at it lol.
It's a really fun bike to fool around on.

First find for 2022. Repco challenger mtb. Too cheap not to grab it.
I've been getting some cool parts together for an 80s mtb build, but this frame fits me a lot better, so I'll throw them at this and see what sticks.

My latest purchase.
A pair of NOS 26" E stay MTB frames.
Now I have to wait patiently for them to arrive in the mail.
Gives me time to think about colour choice?
Plan to build one as a restomod rider, and save the other for later to build era correct.
