The first is obviously a remade one not too old... serial number is hd212368 under the pedals on the frame... it has a Schwinn steel plate on the front but is it a Schwinn?

Any help please let me know!

Well atleast with either one you'll start out with a cool fork. I've got a Flightliner myself(second one) but not a fan of the tubes. I'd go with the Schwinn being it's complete and in better condition then the other one.

The first one looks like a real Schwinn frame, but that number may be a police registry number. Check the brake arm side rear dropout for numbers, or on the bottom of the headtube on the sprocket side of the bike. The 2nd bike is a Sears JC Higgins, 46900 is the model # for a chrome framed Flightliner, may be chrome under all that spray paint? -Adam

Hungarian made Schwinn Heavy Duty is what the first one started out as. Hopefully it retainef the knurled non stamped S-wheels it was originally equipped with. Mid 80's is a close enough mfg. estimate.

Single knurled S-2's were made in Hungary. I bought 2 or 3 pairs of them from Schwinn around '95...about the time the repop Phantom came out. Gary
