I am building a sweet looking bike, but I dont have any info on the frame year or the company really. I searched the net and all I could find is they went out of business in 1953. The headbadge says Shelby Flyer, and there is a decal on the seatpost tube that says The shelby bicycle co, cleaveland ohio- In the center of the decal is an AAF logo. Its a skip-tooth. The serial number is on the BB and is as follows A05498, ther is also another stamp that runs vertical on the bb that says 55C whith a very small W next to the C. Can anybody please send me anything???? Info about the company and maybe a hint towards the year??? I will post pics, when I find my camera.....

The CW stands for Cleveland Welding, the fine folks that made your bike. Post pics for more info. Gary

As a bit of clarification, Shelby was bought out by AMF, who also bought out the Cleveland Welding Co., in the early 50s. Amf used the Shelby name up until around 1962, and CWC's Roadmaster name until they stopped building bikes in the US, in the 90s. They also continued to use CWC's dating system through 1956, after which, they moved production from Cleveland to Little Rock, AR. So, your Shelby is a '55, and mostly CWC parts. -Adam
