so my 1st try at paintin lace was my build off bike. i didnt take pix at the time. i was in a rush 'cause it looked like it was gonna rain(it did).
paintin' lace has been done on custom cars and choppers for maybe 40 years.
i wasnt 100% satisfied w/ the lace job i laid down. i thought it was to thick & blurry. i love it now.
i decided earlier today to try it again on a test panel.
i took a chunk of wood and painted it w/ a base coat.
let it dry for about a 1/2 hour.
laid on some lace.
i got this at my local fabric store. it was 40% off 8) look for odd colors cause it dont matter. yer gonna toss the lace anyhow.
when ya do the lace coat ya wanna just mist or fog on that coat, lightly that is.
this was just a test panel. i didnt primer and sand befor the base color.
look at my pix and get some ideas and than take my advice.
practice w/ a test panel before ya do this on yer bike.
depending on paint brand and surface(metal/plastic/wood) resuslt will vary.
so now go and swipe yer girlfriends panties, yer wifes wedding dress, or yer grammas doilies and practice :p

i may have left out a step, but you guys get the idea.
oh, yeah! dont swipe stuff. stealin aint cool 8)

A VERY light coat of a low tack spray adhesive applied to the lace before laying it down will help hold it in place. Not to heavy just enough to give it some grip. That is how I held on the appliqué for my fender.
