This is my 73/74 camelback Schwinn Speedster, the Humpster. I’m saying 73/74 because the frame is dated 73, but it was originally Opaque Blue which was a 74 color for this model. Now it’s matte white with tone on tone gloss white details like vintage ‘Hawkeye’ style frame darts, seatpost, chainguard and fork decals.
It’s a very subtle effect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
Gearing is 46/23 for nice easy cruising. The rear hub is a SRAM Automatix 2 speed automatic that really kicks in when you need to ‘scoot’. Color accents are bronze rims/chainring/layback seatpost
Here’s my inspiration for this build, wanted a ‘street racer’ vibe to it

"Looks tight".

My sons' friend uses this phrase to describe something that immediately appeals to him. Usually, it's his first response, first words out of his mouth. But saved only for that which he deems worthy.

Really like the cohesiveness of this build! And I know your subtle 'tone on tone' techniques can best be appreciated in person. The blend of a variety of parts selection, and putting a finish on everything that melds it together into one, is difficult to acheive. Cong-RaTs!

My daughter who uses the same term, called it ‘tightey ......’…..😏

Humpster is a super looking ride in person too. Here are pics of Humpster from our LoCoMoFo ride on Labor Day.

I really (really) love all the subtle details on this bike. It may be the old graphic designer coming out in me, but the tone on tone, bass relief, touches are extraordinary! It’s beautiful mate. It’s really inspired me for my next build, where I want to go mechanically simpler but more aesthetically challenging (but don’t tell the wife!) :)

Thanks mate, she’s a beaut to ride too.

Congrats on finishing 13th brother!!! The LoCoMoFo's finished 3rd-3rd-10th-13th!!! Way to represent the LoCo!!!!

The low ‘touring’ bars weren’t cutting it with my back, so I swapped them out with these upright cruiser bars I got from @kingfish254, also replaced the repop Schwinn grips with a set of Ian’s ball ends and lost the cheapo headlight.
MUCH more comfortable now. Still getting used to the SRAM Automatix hub, when if shifts into second gear, it feels like you’re pedaling uphill. Which is actually good because this is my ‘cardio’ bike
