So I think I found a fix, that will secure the cable as well. I knock out the bearing cup as suggested and saw that there was a little lip on the top tube big enough to drill a hole. I used a clear piece of hose to represent the cable, because I haven't bought on yet . And it seems it will work there will be a little angle on the hose but I think it will work just fine. Also it should give me more that enough clearance for the crank.

You can also grind a slot in the excess tubing inside the BB shell to reduce the amount of cable deflection.

Good idea! I will do, any think to make the braking and shifting smother. I am building this to commute to work so it must be very reliable. Next comes the brake levers, I am thinking reverse. And maybe internal cable routing. Any ideas? My be pics of what other people have done.

I asked a similar question a while ago. If I understand correctly, the reverse levers work best with caliper brakes. They may work on drum brakes too. Not sure how effective they are with canti/V or disc brakes.

Keep us posted!

Ok so I got it all done and every thing works well. I ground down the tube ends and achieved the look I was going for. I want the advantages of cable brakes but I wanted as little as possible interruption to the lines of the bike.

The bike is rideable now but I need to finish the disk brake in the front and soon it will be finished, I'll let you all know how it goes. Thanks for all of you help and advice.

That's a nice bike! I wish I would of seen the build, thread on it before I started mine it would of helped. Mine works good and I am happy with it. Thought I would share.
