Is the Muscle Bike Build Off Annual?

Just about any road, touring or fixie bike should be fine. Skinnies on gravel work but some wider tires would roll you into the "off-road" class. I'd consider 1.75 too wide, I wouldn't run those on the front of my "dragster" builds. They look too wide even with a fatty on back. So in my mind that's too wide for a skinny tire class. 29er's all of that stuff is too big, it's off road.
My thinking being Muscle, Off-Road, Skinny, 3 classes. Don't take anything away from last years build off but add a class.

I tend to call anything 32mm and up all road. They do gravel OK and are good on pavement. I don't run any kind of knobbies, even in the dirt, just road tires. 40mm works extremely well off road and is very serviceable on pavement. 40mm is about 1.75" or close.

Calculator says 1.57 so closer to 1.5" than the 1.75" I was imagining as too fat. That's cool and any bigger than a 40 on a 700 and you're in 29er territory anyway.

I'm spitballing here but a guy could build a pretty funky stretch and then slap some tall thin 700's on for a convincing "Donk" build.
The 7' long BMX I built from ten speed tubing a couple years ago would look wild that way. Can we have a "Donk" class???

Here's a 26 x 1 3/8 next to a 26 x 1.75
The 1.75 is almost twice as wide with air in it. Numbers say only 3/8ths wider but reality set in.

When I was still working I used to bike ride by a house that had one of these huge wheel cars. The poor fellow spent huge amounts of time fixing almost every part of the front suspension. It was continuous. His power steering was forever going out too. This was a while back, they probably have better stuff now. You are right about my tire size miscalculation. It was early, I was still half a s l e e p. My weak excuse.

Them tires look fat with no air in them. Air them up I'm guessing those inch and a half are too fat. What's the metric on those 28s.

635 is metric diameter... It's the second number that would determine "skinniness"

It's both a vibe and probably for our purposes needs a specific number... I can probably guess if its big enough to have a whitewall it's too fat...

Skinny tires man. Like most things in here, if you have to ask, the answer should probably be no. Safe bets are 26 x 1 3/8", 27 x 1 1/4 and 700 x 32c or smaller. Everyone of those are skinny and easy to find. But still not the only sizes. Chicago Schwinn have another skinny size from back when they monopolized their wheels, and I think Raleigh did too. Gumwall tires on old ten speed frames, yeah those are skinny and ugly...
