My wife has never liked riding bikes. She told me she would rather have teeth pulled than ride a bike. She did show some interest in a beach cruiser at Dicks, so I bougth it for her birthday last week.Tonight she asked if I wanted to go riding, sure I was ready to go. Since I try to ride every day, she wanted to try riding again. She's doing well, it's nice to have the wife riding.

that is cool. my wife has never shown any interest in riding either. i would like to get her into it. it would be good "together" time.

Don't give up there is always a chance. My wife said she wouldn't ride with me as long as I had the super ape hangers, if it mint she would ride I took them off.

I guess I'm lucky that my wife has always ridden with me, but it's not "her thing." She rides whatever I put her on, which is nice, and she doesn't mind being seen with me no matter what I'm riding, tall bike, chopper, BMX, MTB, cruiser, etc... Most of our family rides I am on a tall bike.

We were riding back in college when we were first dating, she had a Schwinn 10 speed, going down a hill she got into a wobble and crashed bad, I took her to the school infirmary for them to clean her up, it didn't scare her away though.

I am very lucky here. Our first date was a bicycle ride. We got away from frequent riding for a while, but bringing my classics out of mothballs got us introduced to the whole bicycling- scene? community?- whatever you want to call it here in Southern California. Riding gives us a chance to get out together, see new places, meet new people, and generally party in locations we otherwise would never visit.
For you guys who have trouble getting the wives to go along- try finding other couples to ride with. That way the guys can spend the time BS ing about bikes, and the gals can spend the time complaining about the guys and their bikes. Sort of like group therapy.

I guess I'm lucky too. When my wife and I were dating, we took her parents Huffy cruisers for rides when I'd go see her. She is still on the mend from her leg surgery (she broke her leg a week before Christmas) but told me to have her bike ready for when the doc clears her to put weight on her leg again.

Thats great that your wives like to ride also.
I believe with a little more tweeking to get the bike just the way she wants it, I believe she will stick with it. I want to get a bike rack so we can take the bikes to the beach and ride on the boardwalk.

Rack is a good idea. Riding around the neighborhood can get old pretty quick. Because of bikes, we've been to so many places we probably wouldn't have otherwise gone to. We're always seeking out new places to ride.

Back at home though... having a destination can make it more enjoyable. Riding to the store, post office, eat etc... VS riding just for the sake of riding.

My wife don't even know how to ride a bike. She grew up in a really rough suburb of Chicago and her parents would not let her play outside. The neighbor kid was killed on his bike right in front of her when she was about 8. Just glad my daughter is showing interest in riding!

Since I live in an area where you don't have to go far for anything. I leave the Bronco in the driveway and ride the bike to the autoparts etc, definitely saving gas.
I'm not a rack person, so I have 3 bolts with wingnuts mounted on the bike so I can put my rack on in under a minute and I'm good to go. Riding around the neighborhood does get old quick. Kenny

It's the opposite in my house... my wife is the cyclist. I got her a carbon fiber Cannondale for Christmas. She's getting ready to do a metric century soon.

She has no interest in the vintage bikes though. She has joined me on some group rides with her comfort bike though.

In my household I'm the one riding. My boyfriend refused to get on a bike until I found a BRC cruiser then he took it for very short spin. When his daughter came to visit he took the BRC cruiser as we went for a spin. The daughter had a 24" tires CCM Rambler and I was on my 1940 Hercules loop frame/rod brakes. It was a fun ride. That's the first and last ride he've done. I'm keeping the cruiser in the hope he will get back on it.

I couldn't believe it, I had riden 7 miles yesterday. When the wife came home from work she asked if I'd like to go on a bike ride, sure I'll go get the bikes. We road 3.5 miles around our neighborhood. Since Leslie not big on riding if she wants to ride I'm going.

Are you sure you want 2 one is enough for me.
If your wife is barking at the front door and the dog is barking at the back door, which one do you let in? The dog because the dog is going to quit barking when he gets in. :D

My wife is a huge Electra Fan. I just bought her a "Sugar Skulls" cruiser. Now she has two Electra's So going for a bike ride is automatic. Anytime, anywhere, We need to get a rack for the back of her car so we can checkout different small towns around our area. Gary
