Hello everyone, My daughter recently picked up a J.C. Higgins 3 speed .
The bike is in good overall condition except the cables and tires are shot.
We are at the point where we need a shifter cable.

I have done some research and have found that these models used either a Sturmey Archer or a Sachs hub.
I cant find any identifying marks on the hub, it just says "JC Higgins 3-speed and the numbers 50320

The hub has an indicator chain and hollow axle nut just Like a Sturmey. The shifter is a little different than a Sturmey and is labeled JC Higgins.

Any Ideas??

I don't have any personal experience, but from reading my bike books I was under the impression that the Higgins 3 speed was a clone of the Sturmey Archer and all parts would interchange.

They are many different cable lengths and the length of the outside cable sheath varies also. They do make univeral cables you cut to fit and then attachment the end piece. If your lbs doesn't have what you need, I might.
