Heheh, King of the Higgins
I thought it was the name of the band from Slingblade. They were pretty good until that Yoakam dude broke them up.

And the folk band... 😆

Those wide rims are awesome
Thanks, glad you like them.

Now if I can just get the front hub to the house.

Been a pretty bad week here at the house. 😔 After 29 years with the company, I'm looking for a job. In need of a systems engineer, senior IT architect, Data Privacy Expert, Data Engineer or similar, DM/PM me. I've got mad skills....

On a not as bad note. My budget is shot, but I think I have what I need, or it is in transit to finish this build.

I will end up welding the tab for the chain wheel. Found some other arms but didn't realize they are 10 spline instead of 8 spline to the spindle.

Hubs arrived. The Exceltooo Competition hubs have the same spoke hole diameter for the spokes I bought. The Model'71 Japan hub is 2mm larger diameter, I could make them work. Leaning towards the round holes on the Exceltoo.

Dude, sorry to hear about the job situation. If you need any parts post it up. I can rummage through my stash and see what might be lurking there. I think I have an 8 spline crank arm, not sure which side.
Ditto

Glad to toss in. I’ve got more parts than I’ll ever use

My company works primarily tier 1 and 2 automotive. I’ll put some feelers out

Thanks Pondo and Captian Awesome!!

Those haro's that I thought were 180s were actually 175s. The fusions are 180mm 10 spline (rare config).

Worst case I weld it and it breaks later on the mountain, then I coast the downhills and push the flats or uphills to get back to the truck. I've trek'd 5 miles cros country with a broken off pedal before. 😄

I have a lead on some used 8 spline 180s from a buddy in town. I gave him the custom bumpers I made for 'In Violet' awhile back, just to see them used again. He said he'd give the arms to me, if he can find them, but I'll find something he'll like in trade.

Funny. I started my software development career moving off a helpdesk at an airbag manufacturing company.

I worked at the site where they made the gas generating explosives and built the software used in the operations buildings and programming measuring instruments in R&D for burn rates and.volume produced.

Good luck mate!
Thank You ChaOs, much appreciated. Putting the resume out for a couple of jobs this afternoon.

Front wheel.is finished. I found for that living in the Mojave Desert, you have to have tire liners. Can't stand using slime and eventually when you must change a tube on the tire its waaaay too messy to deal with the stuff.

For 2.e5 width and above, I use the Mr Tuffy 2XLs. They cover the width of the tire. The purple ones leave room for that cactus seed, Joshua tree spine or yucca spike to flatten the tub at the edge of the tread.

That's hot!

If we can only get the weather to heat up as well :D

Dude! That is perfection! I can’t believe how nice the fork matches! Nice work.
Thanks twojs

Still need to fit the fork in. It's currently not got a top nut on it because the bottom race is just setting there. I need to go through the shed and find the bottom race that will fit the fork. This was one that I had in the parts box and I couldn't get it to seat, so I need one that will. Sure I have one some where.

I've also got a headset somewhere thats anodized red or close to it. I pulled the red metalcast out of my paint stash in the garage. I wonder if its with the race.... hmmm

Wow! This bike looks absolutely badass!
Thanks ChaOs!
I only would try to turn the front QR skewer to the other side so it faces backwards.
That's safe advice. QR levers should all point back to avoid snagging foliage on the trail. Not just a hangup, they can get pried open
Great tip guys, fully agree. Paying attention to the details and making sure I don't have any incidents on the trail. And, it is a mistake I've made before, after fixing a flat on the hill. I appreciate it

I noticed on the ride around the neighborhood and knew it needed fixing. haven't taken the wheel of yet. I was planning to take it apart and spray the tab with metalcast as well. Or find an old rusty chrome skewer in the shed.
