Re: Jacked Up Pilot, tough versus style
Thanks Petbog! Glad you like the tire combo
Kingfish, Sounds like your not talking about a bike any more
Hey Mitch, thanks. Dragster was what I was trying for
Bike 2112, thanks for being a stance fan
I smile every time I walk by it
Skipton, from a big drag race fan that's quite a compliment, thanks
Glad people like the stance. I tried to make it a bit different than others
Some got the chopper look which I think is very cool too
Otherwise it seems like only the muscle bikes are ever jacked up in the rear
Got some work done but no pics to show for it
All the white is off the outside of the Chukker rims
They now have a brushed aluminum look because I was too lazy too polish them too much
So I convinced myself to think that they looked more tough that way
Did all the spoke length measurements and calculations off Sheldon Brown's website
Came up with some numbers but had no idea how to verify them
Tonight, I went into the only bike shop I know where they have a large assortment of spokes available in a user friendly display, it didn't help
But Kaylee, the bike mech, was very helpful and patient
while I explained all my numbers and diagrams
Finally I said that I didn't trust my numbers, knowledge, or skills to do it myself so she going to
She suggested practicing a bit with a used wheel first
and said she'd write down all the sizes and lengths for me to check
That kinda drops me from the comp at this point but it more about getting the bike done right
I started doubting my plan about the laid back seat and truss rods
Thinking it might kinda take the tough edge off it (but it might need some class)
I was almost thinking straight drag bars (like the position on the last ride pic)
What do you think? (please ignore the stupid seat  )
My wife thinks I should keep the truss rods and I'm moving ahead on the seat
She also asked me about color (which I promised to add more of)
She was a bit thrown back when I said I was taking the white off the rims too
Not sure what I'll do. I'm really a minimalist at heart and it's getting close to the deadline
So I have the seat frame, shifter, and a couple of days of vacation to wrap this puppy up
Thanks for looking
Steve
