I got to say, this bike is full of mad scientist-levels of engineering. I'm glad others pointed out the issues with the suspension, and especially the two solid seat posts, as I'd hate for you put all this work into this bike only for it to break, or worse, literally bite you in the butt. Too bad the springer fork didn't work out like you wanted; I thought that was pretty clever! I hope you can get all the kinks sorted out in time, as this is one wild build. I love how unconventional this bike is. It has a real "flying by the seat of your pants" vibe as far as its construction goes. Good luck!

Welllllllllll, it may send you off to Arkum with two chrome tubes up your butt when your rear suspension sends them through the seat :D :D :D :D
I feel that in ways this build has long left behind such mundane aspects, butt has entered new and unexpected realms. Heath Robinson would be proud.

This is the first build that I check for updates every day :)

On holiday in Dunbar, Scotland….look what I found. They had a second hand one for sale for £150.00. Was tempted but there’s no way I’ll get it back in the car!

Excellent engineering there! Cool man!

Day is not over yet but stopped to cook roast dinner. Have decided to use the cable guides that I was going to grind off, as a means of affixing the headlamp.

still not 100 percent sold on it but it works. May need to create a cross bracket at the front to keep it less ‘flexible’

I like your ideas. I'll bet your bike rides very comfortably. We have a fellow who collects cans locally that did a modification very much like what you have done. He tows a trailer in his quest for cans. His bike is at least 10' long. I also like your headlight mounting scheme. Hope you get it to work to your satisfaction.

I’d just like to take a moment to thank everybody for their support, advice and words of encouragement during this process.

I’m starting to feel a bit like the kid on sports day that has been lapped by the rest of the class and still out on the field, but they are all there at the finish line cheering him on 😆

I think….I’m nearly there. Kicked into gear this weekend but I think it went smoother as I’m now finishing the bits I’ve been thinking about for some months.

Brakes
I know it looks like the way I’ve channelled the cabling shouldn’t work, but it does. Sprayed and masked, white and black.

Grips
Black denim (old trousers) wanted to keep the seam part too when they wrap.
Used spray fix I bought a couple of years ago for changing my van headliner.
Electrical tape in place for now but want to replace with more material to keep ends from riding up and coming loose.

Rear lamp
Had lots of ideas for this as the build went on, but as time is now almost up I had a brainwave of using an old fog lamp I have and also using something I’ve wanted to incorporate since the start. My Fender Jazz Bass bridge plate that I rescued years ago from one of my old guitars that finally bit the dust

Have checked wiring and all works. I just need to now sort a small battery housing and switch.
Had some fun adding a makeshift sissy bar but it’s too springy (I know!) and I think detracted from the overall look of the bike.

Kick stand
Thought I had it sorted but I didn’t (not fixed well enough) so need a rethink.

Extras
Always wanted to add this but could work out how to sneak it into the build. The. Thought ‘I don’t need a bottle cage, why not use the bolts for a bottle opener’ and then I was sold….

A few more tweaks and I may be done.
I still need to make time for my final pics and this week will be a busy one……

Cool funky details! I love all of the ideas you come up with. There is no box that any of your thinking has been in. It's ALL outside the box!! BRAVO!!

Okay…. ‘Stick a fork in me…I’m done’
Photo shoot tomorrow and the sun is promising to make an appearance around lunchtime.
What a blast it has been!

Had to rethink the tail light and due to timing plump for a shop bought rear light

Moved the headlamp so it is attached to the stem. Much happier now as it moved with the direction of the handlebars.

Ground off some of the original tabs not needed

Finally added the last finishing touch and the inspiration for the build name in the very first instance:)
