I’d just like to take a moment to thank everybody for their support, advice and words of encouragement during this process.
I’m starting to feel a bit like the kid on sports day that has been lapped by the rest of the class and still out on the field, but they are all there at the finish line cheering him on
I think….I’m nearly there. Kicked into gear this weekend but I think it went smoother as I’m now finishing the bits I’ve been thinking about for some months.
Brakes
I know it looks like the way I’ve channelled the cabling shouldn’t work, but it does. Sprayed and masked, white and black.
Grips
Black denim (old trousers) wanted to keep the seam part too when they wrap.
Used spray fix I bought a couple of years ago for changing my van headliner.
Electrical tape in place for now but want to replace with more material to keep ends from riding up and coming loose.
Rear lamp
Had lots of ideas for this as the build went on, but as time is now almost up I had a brainwave of using an old fog lamp I have and also using something I’ve wanted to incorporate since the start. My Fender Jazz Bass bridge plate that I rescued years ago from one of my old guitars that finally bit the dust
Have checked wiring and all works. I just need to now sort a small battery housing and switch.
Had some fun adding a makeshift sissy bar but it’s too springy (I know!) and I think detracted from the overall look of the bike.
Kick stand
Thought I had it sorted but I didn’t (not fixed well enough) so need a rethink.
Extras
Always wanted to add this but could work out how to sneak it into the build. The. Thought ‘I don’t need a bottle cage, why not use the bolts for a bottle opener’ and then I was sold….
A few more tweaks and I may be done.
I still need to make time for my final pics and this week will be a busy one……
