Did some more work this morning before work I will not get time until the weekend to do more

Made an insert in order to use as a template to transfer the holes from one side to the other
IMG_3835_zpsxqmsxlit.jpg

As you can see both sides now have the hole locations for the emblem
(not attached yet
*the emblem on the lower 1/2 came to me that way
the J is actually broken off on that emblem
but no worries it is for a rat bike

Then I measured out and drilled the other holes (on one tank side so far)
IMG_3838_zpsyleamebw.jpg

Now it looks like the one of the tanks that it was inspired by
The Columbia built Higgins with the place for the jewels
ch_zps6jcuz1u3.jpg

and I am fairly sure that it wasn't custom I have seen a couple other pictures of Columbia tanks like that
as well as ones with the side pipe decal

And finally a tank mockup with emblem and pipes
sitting below the other tank that inspired it

Still needs more work but getting closer

Looking slick!!!! Nice work!

Puts a whole new spin on photo realism.

Didn't get to do much this weekend but I did get the other tank side drilled and the other thing was swap out the standard chain ring bolts for actual bolts and nuts
IMG_3839_zpsdfc7jzek.jpg

Other than those two things the only other thing i was able to do was get the stem riser for the circle trek build
IMG_3840_zpsa7tvkqer.jpg

here it is with the 3t mutant stem
I had that one left over from a build turned out I needed a 1" and this was a 1 1/8
if I didn't have that stem I was going to use a cinelli groove which looks similar

I mocked the bike up once the 20x3 tire arrived and it looked so good i had to take a teaser pic
but first more stuff being done on the tank
I ordered some split washers from mcmaster to mimic the curve on the side pipe cutout on the decal
IMG_3843_zpsx0dhm4uh.jpg

looks like they should work once I cut them
Now that i know they will work i just need to order the matching steel bar for the straight pieces

But enough talk now time for the teaser pic
*pipes attached with tape and not the stem i will be using (just haven't found the correct one yet)

Also other than a few shims on the rear axle no problems getting the wide tire to fit

Nice looking like a true rat should ...

Everything is coming together well on that. Except I'm not really feeling the reversed stem and bars look, but I know you're still working on that part.
Gonna be cool!

Yes I know the reverse stem is a bit much
but the ratty rat trap had so much rust in it that I have only been able to drill out so much
the fork top tube needs to be cut down before i can remove more material
it was either mock it up really far back or really high in the air
but this weekend is the Long Beach Cycle Swap so I hope to find a stem that will work
I keep forgetting how over exaggerated normal size 26" parts can look on a 24" bike

 :113: :cool2:

Really like the rusty frame with the wide white-wall in the back....truly rat-isfying!

rat-isfying that would be a good name for a bike
speaking of names I think I might have one for this bike
Right now I am thinking of calling it
"Junky-Culled Higgins"
and tell people that is what the J.C stands for
another possible name is
"Junky Cullumbia"
Kind of a combination of Culled and Columbia
or maybe just call it "Junky Colombia"

I will make my decision by the end of the week
unless someone has an idea for a name that I end up liking better
