I really had no idea what it was and neither did the seller. I was thinking some sort of ice block shaver. I googled the patent number and found that it was a ribbing knife.

OK, now that you will be owning the bike the dial-a-ride fork I can ask you how it is supposed to work, looks like it needs rockers or something, I don't understand the swivel points...

The fork pivots where you see the bolt , and the function is similar to a Schwinn fork , just the spring is anchored to the fork , instead of the stem

If you decide not to use the rib knife keep me in mind. Going to build a fixie out of a old german ten speed , it would look cool with the finish on the bike. Nice score

Craigslist find on the Firebolt and then the seller showed me his other stuff (that he didn't have listed) and I bought it all.

The seller really understood that rust is a color. The graphics on the tanker are in great shape. Needs a little work in the hub or BB.
