Temporary fit up of new crank. The 24T chainring was the only one that fit without filing around locating pin hole. I will need to add a spacer to get everything to tighten up.

How are you going to get the tire to fit? I wonder if you could extend the drop length enough by lap welding drops from a kids bike on top of the existing drops?

Will need a 5/8" to 7/8" shim. Ordered on on 2/10, still not here. Looks like I'll have to steal one from another bike.

I’ve had problems with those double rails slipping on klunkers. It doesn’t seem there up to that level of abuse. You can weld up a simple seat sandwich to make it bomb proof.

Sorry, my pictures are misleading. I had the wheel slid all the way forward in the dropouts temporarily. Tire clearance shouldn't be a problem after I get my drivetrain sorted out and the chain tensioned.

I had briefly looked into doing this on another bike that I was trying to use a micro adjust seat post.

I borrowed a shim from another bike, got my seat mounted.

Bar options. Top: What came with the bike. Too rusty.
Second bar: Like originals but wider.
Third bar: Like originals but slightly narrower.
Bottom bar: Unknown origin. Should clean up ok. These bars with the stem on the left make the cut.

I plan on running these grips as a tribute to Ian Thompson.

A narrow window of opportunity opened up today. There was 0% original paint left on this frame, so out came the wire wheel.

Frame has a lot of pits, too deep to sand out. Oh well. I don't have time to bondo. I did finish up with 180 grit.

Red oxide primer on. Tomorrow we paint.

Flip the seat post. It might work temporarily.

I've been known to use flattened beer bottle caps as shims for seatposts etc. Ratty is as ratty does.
