Hey y'all builders, I found a cheap cruiser bike near me. I saw the pictures on a online marketplace and the bike was absolutely hideous... But with potential! Tires and parts seemed like new, but pictures were bad.
The owner got an offer from someone else of 15 bucks but was not letting it go that easy. I did my offer and he said thats alright, come by Saturday afternoon.
And I did! He took it out of the garage and the bike was new. He said he won it at an football game and never cycled it, because he thought riding singlespeed was hard.
I replied and I said: I'm peddling these bad boys up in the hills in Nijverdal and its called Klunking!
Silence commenced... hmm... I gave him the money, thanked him kindly and took this thing home.
And here she is in all her glory
I first removed the tank plate.
But never give up hope, if you see the details and through the stickers:
Cool retro tires! Grey rims.
Histop coasterbrake hub... not the worst, but I'd rather have the Shimano.
They I started lightweightin' removing them patches and fenders:
Added a brooks saddle.
And it started looking pretty cool. I even like the orange colour at the moment.
I plan to do quite some things:
Add a tougher, set back seatpost.
Lubricate the hub, chain and bottom bracket.
Finished the paint, where the stickers are off at the frontal black section.
Check the tubes and tires.
Different bars.
Remove the 'Holland Cruiser' sticker on the downtube without damaging the paint.
So what do you think? Pretty neat so far right!
