Those Paella tins are sexy!!!! Can't wait to see them installed!
Great springer mod too!

Picked up this to use in the place of the seat post
20160712_110346_zpskd40t6wl.jpg

but it is a bit on the wide size so i may need to grind it down to fit

But I think I would rather find something else and use

Because I found out this swap meet find
not sure if it is a bronze goose or swan
20160712_110559_zpsj81tlwzv.jpg

ends up resting pretty well on on top

So I think it might make a good ornament
20160712_110535_zpsyipyf4vb.jpg

if it is a bronze goose then it gives a whole new meaning to gooseneck

Ba-dum-bum! Some nice accoutrements here!

For some reason this is the only pick i could upload from this weekends build secession
Picture20002_zpsrrjzbvne.jpg

here it is
the part I found to connect the springer to the truss bar
not sure what it came from but it saves me from having to find a heim joint that would work

I have Wednesday off so I should be able to get some more progress pics then

Great work going on here. Can't wait to see ya progress. GTB! PEACE

Now that is what I call a goose neck stem!

Love the concentric circle effect of the lids! Will they remain shiny, or do you have some more rat-isfying ideas for these as well?

I drilled holes in the "hub caps"
Since the aluminum was so thin I only wanted to cut once so I went bigger than i probably needed
20160720_153124_zpslbjfe6is.jpg

top is the front and was a 1.5 hole
bottom is rear and was a 2.25 hole

* This is an important side note if anyone wants to use theses in a future build*

Although they are dished
It is not enough to use on narrow rims

1.75 width minimum but wider is better
with the 1.75 rim they rest right on the spokes

Also make sure the center hole is cut the same size on all 4 lids

OddJob

I had one idea that after mocking up did not look right

I attempted to try a little visual trickery
and use a full blackwall tire with a black rim
then paint the outer ring white to mimic a large white wall tire
but it just did not look right

So I need to figure out the tire/wheel combo

Right now it is between
blackwall / black rim
white wall / white rim
white wall / chrome (or unpainted aluminum) rim

I think the blackwall / black rim idea looks more like an old Rolls Royce phantom

And I want it to look more 50's kustom kar

So i will keep mocking up ideas

but if anyone has suggestions feel free to
post em

Man, I LOVE those paella discs.
To me the whitewalls aren't quite right with the discs. I'd go with black or maybe even a brick red tire.
The custom springer and the rest of the build are looking great by the way.

The rocker arms only came with 2 of the required bolts
While I had extra from an extra rattrap springer
they do not work on these rocker arms
so I had to find another solution
20160720_144638_zpszwqpjs7e.jpg

correct bolt is on the left and my solution is on the right
they are retaining washers from a bmx fork
I just had to widen one of the holes on the rocker to fit

One of the other minor problems I encountered was attaching the chainguard
originally I was going to fab a small bracket but I ended up finding a part off a french simplex roadbike in a pile of parts
20160720_173146_zpspxkjpp8x.jpg

the rubber bushing is a piece of rubber hose from a car engine

I was testing out different hbars when this set from an old huffy causeway caught my eye
20160720_175907_zpswfuv5hsm.jpg

If you look close enough you can se how the bar bends match the flow of the wings on the "goose"

Also I tested out seeing what the bike would look like with a front fender

Looks like I might just have to add that to the list of stuff to finish in one week
