Got the new cross bar for the handlebars painted today. Still waiting on it to dry.

Used a wire wheel on a bench grinder to clean up the old copper pipe. Then primed it with the Rusty Oleum red primer and applied some texture and some rust colors. When dry, some mustard was applied in small doses and then the Dark Steel metallic was applied. The metal flakes or whatever comes out like glitter. When dry I will go over it with 0000 steel wool. That's what I did to the exhaust pipes and headers.
Some guy in a Rolls borrowed the last of my regular mustard, but fortunately we had a stash of MacMustard I could pick from.
Also mixed up a batch of vinegar, peroxide and salt to age the mounting hardware and some other bits that needed it.

So I played around with the OP while waiting for the paint to dry. Found my Electra chain guard, it will need some trimming If I use it. Also dug out some fenders to see how that would look. The back one will take some imagineering to get mounted.

Paint was now dry enough to handle, so I reinstalled the handlebars and attached the crossbar. Thought I would try some Thompson ball end grips on this bike since he seems to be out of the regular coke bottles in black. Not sure if I like these ball end ones though. Not soft and pliable like the cokes. Gonna be buggers to install.

Gotta fix the rear wheel on the Green Machine. When the coaster brake arm spun, it loosened the bearings
I hate messing with that rear wheel. I just know I am going to have to touch up some paint. Ugh. Too hot to fool with it today anyway.

Think I'll stay in the shade and play dress up with the new bike! Yeah , give in to the B.A.D.D. syndrome.
Thinking of painting the fenders black, but the practice fauxtina on the front fender has me second guessing that plan.

Maybe tomorrow I'll scrounge up some ape hangers or something...

Finally, some more done on the LMGM.

Took the back wheel off and got it all straightened out and remounted. Remembered to install a bolt to anchor the brake arm this time.
Then put the grips on and played around with some stickers I made. Still need to finish the wiring. Do the rules say anything about lights having to work? I got plenty of time. LOL

Great detail work

Let there be light! And it was good.
And with the lights, The Lean Mean Green Machine is done. For now...

Now to find someplace to take pictures. Somehow a stretch of country two lane seems an appropriate setting for this old Southern hot rod rat.

Bike looks great! I would suggest a background that isn't so busy because there is a lot going on with the bike. Another suggestion is the move more to the side with some of you front side shots. Head on shots are fine to show certain details, but for your main photo, you want people to see the whole bike. Sharp angle shots for the front of a bike really shrink what people can see.

Andy, could you dare put the bike in the middle of that road for 30 secs or so? If so, with the length of that straight road, you could have a great perspective shot. Get as much of the blacktop as possible as a backdrop to the bike, so most of the bike has a solid background. Or a wall of an old building, in a solid paint like grey or white that has some age to it. Your top notch rat-ina job needs to be shown off!

Ok, top contenders for finished picture. Liking the 2 lane one myself.

Ultra lame ride video. Kinda hard to work phone and watch where I'm going at same time. I think the clicking is the exhaust pipes rattling in their hangers...
