All I know is this: Use the smallest box possible.
And that I won't ship anymore complete bikes unless I factor in $150 for shipping.
The last 2 completes I've sold on here, I've taken a MAJOR bath on, like, I lost money on the bike after shipping. $120-150 dollars to ship a heavy tank bike.
Once you factor in time to break down the bike and buy shipping materials, foam tubes, bike boxes, bubble wrap, etc, you basically lose out.
Its just easier for me to make $200 less on a bike and sell it on craigslist. Saves me 2-3 hours. It sucks for me, because I am a major believer in "keeping the bike original" even if I swap parts on my bikes, I keep all the original parts in a labeled box in the event I sell it. Stripping and flipping is the most profitable, but I don't like doing that, and I personally find it somewhat detestable that people do that to great bikes to make a few bucks more.
