im going back in the morning,,,I found a pile as tall as my house..there were many bikes and i did see 4 bikes that looked like they were from the 20's and 1900.
I will be there when they open...

Looks like a Murry, Almost like the ladys bike build off I just finished. Also the fenders look like I found at a pawn shop. It was a Murry.
Yours has an extra bar and seat stay extension to to head tube.

the year I was born,,,kinda cool cant wait to ride it...
so i did a little cleaning and nail polish remover takes the gold spray paint right off...it is red under that,,,but from the pic,s i found it might be crome,,,,but the seat is blue,,,anyone know if this bike came in any other colors

Sears has always sourced their bikes from the major companies. I think it is a murray built, might have worn a Free Spirit badge, or Murray or any of the other stores brands that sold that specific frame design. Find the serial numbers and it might reveal more info on which brand it wore when it was sold. Someone on here (rms37?) has a pretty good list for decoding the Murray serial numbers.

cool find !,guess i have to find a different seat for mine,,

I have a real nice black seat for that bike. It's a Troxel... I have one dated 1977, real nice black vinyl.

Email me if interested. I agree, it looks like a Murray frame, which it probably was if it was sold by Sears.

That rear fender looks like the Murray Cat series chopper fenders, also sold as the Free Spirit Chopper...

Its a good candidate for a sandblast and repaint.

I have one of frames like this in chrome, so yes I would say they did come in chrome. By the way it is for sale if anybody is interested. Matt

New here and I checked at Sears parts direct and it is Model #502458030 - SEARS Sears 20" moto-cross bicycle which they have some parts but not all parts, just go to sears direct site then put the number in find it fast then in type of search click model search, click go then click on the pic of the exploded view of the bike and there is an exploded view of the brake.
