Hey Bill, regarding sitting on a solid pan, the shape of the pan, which conforms to the human anatomy, it way better than a hard, generic 'sports' saddle, as on your Collegiate. On my traveling motorcycles I ran solo saddles (solid pan, thin foam and leather top) for over 150K miles. Yeah, bike saddles tend to be smaller, but if the shape matches your butt......remember all those old farm implements that had steel, no padding seats? They were made for a farmer to sit in all day.
