Hi,

I have managed to lose seat post in seat down tube, any ideas on getting it out?

Thanks

MrG

Steel or aluminum? How far down from the top?

I assume it just slipped down. Try taking a coat hanger and making a small hook at the end the insert past and pull up. A spoke might work on shorter post.

Step 1: Cut seat tube in the middle
Step 2: Remove lost post
Step 3: Build custom bike with now destroyed bike but salvaged seat post

If it just fell in there its the wrong size anyway....take some bubble gum and a stick...naw that wont work. I'm with Clancy, bend some hard wire in a small hook and stick it inside the seat post and pull it back out.

If it didn't go all the way down to where it hits the crank, it might be easier to put another stem in and forget it.

Turning the frame upside down and tapping on it should let it come out.

I got the bike given to me and never questioned the persons generosity... 'Oh it just needs a clean up and a seat good to go'

Went to fit the seat and how did that get there!

Seat post is about an inch below pipe top so new seat post will not fit

Bent wire sounds about right if its not jammed in, but something along those lines might work

Thanks for all your help

Got the post out using a piece of threaded rod [8mm] and a couple of nuts and washers...

Added saddle bike is good to go

Thanks for all your help
