Aaahh, yes. The things we do for our addictions.....
These bars have 22" of rise. If used here they will be made black & probably chop 2"-2.5" off each side. Need to attach the seat firmly, adjust the headset, make sure everything is tight & go for a spin to start narrowing the parts list so I can focus on details, paint, etc. Will likely have a couple different setups in the end for different looks. Some may not meet the requirements for this competition.
So I finally had a chance to firmly attach the seat, adjust the OCC fork, removed the Jesse James stickers from the tank and Beast stickers from the top tube. Went for a good test ride to see how it rides in this configuration and was pleasantly surprised with how well it rides!!
I was a bit concerned with the stability of the fork until I had to hop a curb flying down a hill to avoid a collision with a car!!
Since the tank is being held in place with a couple disposable shop towels rolled up & wedged onto the top bar it went flying so I flew through the intersection with one hand on the bar & the other trying to catch the tank with help from my knees.......
I pulled out the bars from the pile that work with the clamp on the forks which need to be 7/8". I will try some out while doing body work on the tank to prep for paint.
Then installed an old school Bontrager titanium mtb flat bar to ease wheeling around. Looks pretty cool too!
Time to dig out the Bondo & other supplies I need for the few parts that need paint.

I prepped the tank for body work today & dug out the Bondo & other things I'll need for this project.
Tank with dents.
Filed down the rough weld at the front of the tank.
Then sanded for body filler.

These 4130 West Cosat Chopper frames are fun, and really strong. I built one up a couple of times. Urrently Sitting by my parts pile with a Skyhawk mounted under the seat. Right now it has a broken gas tank.
Anyhow.
I love those 1" bars you had on the bike early on. Had a frame designer tell me at a bike show once after I had told him I was thinking of changing out to a stingray style ape. "Do you see All those bikes here with Apes, those apes were meant to mimic like those 1 inch bars you have on your old typhoon. You have the real deal, don't change em". And I ended up not changing them out.
My personal opinion, these bars look great with this frame and no one else has them on their bike.

Thanks for the feed back guys! It will be hard to decide on the right bar. And the look will change depending on the seat used. I think the flat bar would look best with a regular seat while the banana seat looks better with the apes. Still need a couple pieces to arrange a regular seat.....
I did some body work on the tank. Need to do a gel coat to touch up pinholes & a couple low spots to get ready for paint.

This really is a good looking combo. The WCC fork is a bit tall with the geometry of the Beast frame and I like the OCC fork with some rake built in a little better. Keeps the frame lower & the kickstand still works!
The WCC fork raises the bottom bracket almost 2" & falls over when using the kickstand. Easy fix but like the look of the OCC fork better. I can also use the stock handlebar clamps or a quill stem. Both forks handle very well however.
I got the tank filled to get rid of the ugly weld at the front pretty well in preparation for paint.....
Then was shot with primer.....
And laid out a paint scheme with tape & sidewalk chalk as a start for what has been in my head....
With help from @Palepainter rendering....
And color flip which I think I like better.
I have a few other paint schemes in my head to play with as well.Time to take of the OCC fork to prep & put on the WCC fork for riding for the time being.

Cool build! I'm 3rding the vote for the 1" bars and the color flip on the tank. I like the Low Fat look of this !

Thanks for the feedback guys! Not a lot of updates as most work on this has been going on in my head. I have also been scavenging the planet in my area for some things I've wanted to incorporate into this build as well.
The bike was missing the head badge when I got it so needed a replacement. Found a few to choose from at a bike co-op in Ft. Collins I've wanted to check for a while along with some stuff I didn't take pics of.(26" bmx fork, dozen rim strips, threadless stem for 31.8 bar, seat rail wedges
) Found some cool crank caps in my stash I like better than the stock plastic junk as well.
And picked up a green sparkle & white sparkle seat to widen the color options at a shop in Loveland. Further muttling my brain with options........
This green could work in 2 tone green reminiscent of prewar Shelby.
Green/white color scheme would be cool too!
I think I have a game plan for this that should be pretty cool in the end. I am going with the green/black as shown above. Just hope to hear from the paint shop soon that was going to color match a couple cans of green for me.
Or I will use plan 'B'.

I was also able to have a few more threads cut on the steer tube. Needed maybe 2 more....
@bruised , the steer tube for the WCC is 9 3/8" for threadless & OCC is 8 5/16". I need to remove 1cm from the top & extend the groove a bit for a nice tidy fit.
One other thing accomplished was drilling a square hole in the dropouts to mount the sissy bar. I like bikes that accommodate separate adjustment of fenders, racks, sissy/wheelie bars, etc. from wheels.
A couple of minor adjustments and prep some parts for paint is next! Thanks again for checking in!!

Two tone green works for me. Or even three or four tone......

I picked up the paint from the shop that was mixed and put into spray cans on Thursday. Time to get busy prepping parts for paint.
I have settled on finishes for this bike. Going to do green with black accents with some other complimentary choices. Time will be a factor at this point......

I've been working on getting parts prepped and started paint today. I put a little more curve in the sissy bar & had a few more threads cut on the steer tube & extended the groove for the washer.
I also polished the ends of the handlebar for glitter grips before paint.
I did 3 coats of Rustoleum Bedliner on the sissy bar, fork crowns & handlebar. Then 3 coats of Rustoleum Pewter hammertone. It has nice texture but hoping for more "tone" when it dries. Kinda tricky to apply. Also the can leaked behind the trigger & was a mess.
Painted parts curing & staying warm in the boiler closet between coats(no pic of hammertone yet).
I also polished the ends of the handlebar for glitter grips before paint.
