Seat came today. Idk if I like it cause its bigger than I thought it would be but i'm running with it for now. I have a good portion of the tubes cut and just leaned it all together to get an idea of what it is going to look like. I have to remake the jig before I started finalizing everything for welding. I also thinking I am going to shorten up the bottom tube by 6" to bring the rear tire closer to the seat.
I bought the heavier gauge unistrut and used 8"bolts. I cut 7" sections of conduit to use as spacers between the rails it's really solid and quite heavy. Into it for $100 and its all off the shelf from Home Depot. Best part was that it is pretty much bolt together.
Got the top tube mostly done and clamped into place. I wish I could tack it all together right now. I have one more 3" piece to make to connect the middle tube to the down tube.
Well I learned today that I need A LOT more practice welding but I managed to stick the the pieces of the frame together well enough for the hammer test.
I also learned that I cut the rear chain stays too short so I have to weld some pieces in to fill the gaps.
I could NOT help bringing the wheels and seat to work today and sitting on it for my first test fit.
still have to weld in the rear top seat stays and the elliptical top tube i made. The pedals clear the ground, and I can reach them! The stem is too long though I am a tad too far stretched out.
