What am I looking at

Alsop Softride was a suspension system built into the seat post. Rider was suspended as opposed to the bike, the flex beam was tuned for rider weight. It was actually quite successful, the article linked a few posts above lists a bunch of racing victories, along with the history of the design

Aaaah so that’s what a soft ride looks like without the seat…..gotcha!
