Here are the before and after pics of the Eliminator i got last week for 12.00. Bike had been sitting for years and was probably headed for the scrap until i rescued it.

I sanded and primed the frame before painting Sun Yellow. The chrome fenders were covered in rust but it came off leaving them like new. The handles have some pitted rust but they arent real bad.

An old friend of mine has tons of NOS parts and he sold me what i needed cheap. I replaced the short arm crank with a new longer arm one and added rat trap pedals and a sprocket guard since the old chainguard was long gone. Replaced the complete front rim and tire because of a rusty rim. The back rim is origonal but has a new 2.125 tire. Anew Troxel seat and red grips were put on to finish the job.

Including the 12.00 purchase price i have a grand total of 32.00 invested.

Turned out great! I have one I picked up from a good friend, just the frame & front fork & chainguard. Thinking about building it for my grandson rat style. May even use it for my build off bike! Not much chance of winning with a 20", but who cares! I'm in it for the fun!

I don't know why, but that has always been one of my favorite muscle bike frame designs.

I'm a sucker for twin top tubes.

Re: Murray Eliminator Resto Finished

If this is the one you sent the PM about then I'm pretty sure it's a 1972 or newer from the rear fender.. the serial #s should be on the head tube...should start with a M followed by a # that will ge the year. 2 being a 72 3=73 ECT-ECT

Cool, I hope the pictures show up later because for some reason they are not loading on any of the browsers I have.
