Brian, this stretch looks really good! Such a smooth transition. I 'm feeling like the fork needs a little strrretch in this photo as well....plans?

Not much to post but today I took my seat post to work and used the chop saw to cut it in half on a 45° then when I got home welded it together on a 90°. Decided to add a little gusset out of angle iron cut on 45 takes the ends good then took a hammer and bent the sides over to touch the corner of the post then welded together.

Butt ugly welds but is solid.

Very unique placement of the stretch addition up front. It flows naturally to me. The rear end is pulled out nicely too.
Great lines and killer build name!

Finally got the frame all welded together next up a good cleaning on the Columbia part of the frame and possibly a OA bath depending on how it looks after the washing.
I did see a couple spots I need to touch up on the welds but overall I think it turned out ok it's definitely solid and sturdy.

Got the welds smoothed out and some body work done. Still need to sand it down and go back over it again. While I was waiting for the first coat of filler to dry I went ahead and laid out the darts.
I decided against doing a OA bath after giving it a bath and just doing BLO or a satin or matt clear coat.

got some parts for both of my builds soaking.

Earlier I done a little mock up trying out 2 different handle bars. The first set I don't like because they feel to close together. But I do kinda think they look good on there.

then there's this one that I am attempting to make by cutting up couple out of the junk parts.

I like the way these feel a nice hight and I can adjust them in or out to where they feel right before welding. Just don't have any adjustment you would having a stem.

Yesterday after work before our late afternoon rain I figured I need to do something for the springer fork that is missing the braces.
Looked around the bike pile nothing there. Looking some more I remembered about the yard flower hanging thing it's the right diameter and I have these crimp on wire connectors so I measured up how long the braces needed to be chopped two off . Needed a little bit smaller for the braces so I broke out the flap wheel sanded it down to a nice fit where it needed a couple taps to get all the way on.

I only had 2 of the connecters so I have to get 2 more to finish up then strip the paint off the springer.

Stopped at the supply house on the way home yesterday and got the two connectors I needed for the springer. got the brace ground down to fit

then a test fit worked out great

Figured maybe I could do a tank but didn't want to go all the way to where the canti bars meet the top tube manly because I didn't want a huge take. So I used some cardboard marked out the front marked where the darts end came up with this design.

Will probably paint it same color as the front if I decide to use a tank.

Yesterday I got the section of the frame I'm painting smoothed out and ready for paint.
IMG_20230527_191123687.jpg

I messed up the paint mask sanding so I came up with a template so I can get all the same.

Wrap some tape around the tubes trace out and cut with a razor hopefully my hands are steady enough and not have wavy lines. Then I got the springer apart sanded and primed. Just need to decide what color thinking green or black to kinda go with the copper.

Hopefully get paint done tomorrow and try and get my class 1 build to at least where this one is now in primer.
I'm anxious to see what this is going to look like with good paint on the ends and crusty in the middle.

Got a good bit of work done today first got the tank cut out and routered the edges. Then I needed to figure out how to mount it remembered the bracket that held the tank off the Columbia it was too rusty to use but I have some aluminum strip.
IMG_20230529_191553609.jpg

So I used the vice and the head tube I cut off to make 2 to hold the tank.
IMG_20230529_153628178.jpg
then I mocked up a fender may or may not use it.

Looked through my paint selection's on my shelf wanted to use a green I had but it was clogged. The only other color I thought would look good with the copper color was a antique white so antique white it is. Thought I got a picture of the paint but guess I didn't will have to get one tomorrow.
