Raw Custumz Chain Frame Bike

Started with a 24 inch huffy beach cruiser I got from a place that sells and restores bikes

Than I cut it up for the parts that I needed: neck, crank, seat post and rear wheel brackets. Drew a picture on a piece of MDF and laid out the parts.

My son helped me screw chain to MDF and unscrew it

Some tack welding done

Removed from MDF so I can do some more solid welds. I flipped it up side down so the welds I was doing would be a little more hidden when you are riding it. Im a very novice welder so the welds dont look great but they are holding and I will get better as I weld some more and learn good techiques

All put together with parts I have laying around, although the wheels will need to go back on th 20" Lowrider bike I took them off when I get the wheels I want for this one.

I used the hooks that were at the ends of the tow chain as supports in the front and rear of frame and also made a support in middle out of chain

Weight Check! It holds nicely I think with having the springer front end absorbing most of the bumps and movement helped the frame alot.

So there are a few things I am going to change about what you see here.
1. Different handle bars, I am going to go with ape hangers but these I dont like cause grips face in, instead of out
2. Front wheel is going to be a 26" wheel and tire combo with a Springer Straight Fork set up
3. Seat will look the same but have a better one in garage
4. Not sure about paint might just leave it like it is
Let me know what you think

Ok finially got chain on and fixed frame so that when I sit on it, the pedals dont hit the ground.
Found out the frame is to wobbley right now its just not rigid enough. So now I need to see how to make frame stiffer so it doesnt twist.

The secret to welding chain is to put as much tension against it when welding as possible. i've done some chain welding in the past and essentially pulled at each end with threaded rod before securing to final weld. you just need to watch what type of chain and what type of weld you lay against it. some chains become quite brittle once reheated after use and also heat treating when new.

Thanks alot for the tips on welding, I am very new at welding so all the tips you can give me are always welcome.
Im going to try one more type of brace that connects to the back swing arm and if that doesnt work than I will be starting over.

Im gonna check out that Munsters Bike
Thanks
Bernie

That Eddie Munster bike is cool as hell.
I wonder could I duplicate it w out permission and not get in any trouble? I'd have to get s better look at the fenders to see what's going on there but other than that seems doable. Old headlights might be hard to come by? The plexiglass was cool they should have left it on
Thanks again
Bernie

Ok, removed the center brace and replace with an upside down "V", changed the front fork to a straight 24" fork and added some welds under seat area.
Took it for a ride today and it works, chain stayed on.
Less wobble now still need to add some welds but ran out of gas and wire.
Still want to change front wheel to a 24" now instead of 26" and I def need some different handle bars
Prob not gonna paint just gonna remove red paint from fork and bars and let nature take its course.
Pictures coming soon
Bernie
