New to Old Bikes

I am new to working on old bikes.
I want to build a boardtrack-inspired bike.
I am starting with a 51 Columbia which I bought yesterday from MikeS.
It started like this:

Yeah the laid back seat.
I'm thinking almost on the wheel:

I'm trying to figure out whether to fool with the "tank" on the bike or make something like an excelsior or the indian above...

Welcome Matt .. Good start on a cool bike, kinda like it with the guard and rack but its
my preference....kind of an art deco look
