I picked up an 89 Haro Dart from a member at the Cabe. Basically, frame, and wheels. Well the frame triangle had been filled. Thought maybe it had been welded in and I would have to spend some time cutting metal panels off. But when it arrived, I pulled it out of box and frame must have weighed 15 lbs. the flags went up. I took it out to shop and proceeded to investigate. Took a grinder to it and it kept sinking into a gracious application of bondo. Then I took a drill to do a core sample. Straight through. At that point, I was some what relieved but yet perplexed. So I took a hammer to it and slammed it out. Took frame to blasters and repainted. Assembling it with high end campy road bike stuff.I drew up the decals and sent them to Bruce Crawford for printing. Assembling now.
Some progress shots of the debacle so far.

Acquiring a fleet of F1s eh. I wasn't aware how many manufacturers were involved. F1s arrived when I graduated from bmx to drag racing. The cars are all gone, the bike are back... life's like that. I'll return to cars when I get old, although seeing Teslas destroying the old petrols makes me kind of sad. Better start planning on an E-dragster...

Ya know, it really wasn’t on the horizon. But watching yours come together rekindled the fire to have one…some. My friend who owns bike shop in Pueblo showed me one in his possession a few years back. The DB I snagged. It fell in love with riding it. Small, easy to move around and transport. And had great acceleration. And as a typical bike junkie, I ran across that qualifier And had to have it. Then this Haro plopped in my lap but needed much work, so I don’t really feel to bad for giving it a new life with cooler parts. This one will be sweet when I’m done in next week or so. Wheels will take the most work.

im an old BMX guy as well, and have really enjoyed seeing what you have done with those 20 inchers. I got rid of most of mine, still have the 81 redline. Probably never get rid of it. I find the f1 bikes a great way to mix the cruisers and BMX platform.. ride on….

Worst Bondo Job Ever

Good eye for the resurrection.
Heheh. Man. I have never seen such a blatant use of bondo. I was informed by previous owner that the bike had been professionally done at Independent Cycles. 😀 To his credit, I dont think he really had any idea of the tomfoolery that took place under the paint.

Looking sweet! :cool2: I'd have to push the bars forward. The stye fits perfect.
I'm not into wheel covers but on F1s they work for me.

What's the cartridge and spindle length?
Size cup headset, Is it the Standard BMX size? The Qualifier uses 30mm cups. Cant use 1-1/8'' steering tubes unfortunately:(
Top tube length?
I should've asked for the frameset weight earlier.
