Guten tag! Been looking for reasonably prices trikes for a while now, and came across this one. Had it shipped across the country, but overall it wasn't too expensive. It's in decent condition, lots of surface rust, the usual when it comes to older bikes. The seller told me there was some kind of problem with the axle/drive or something, two bent washers or something like that. I'll probably ask for help in the future when I start taking it apart. Had a local bike mechanic look at it, he could not see anything from the pictures, but he also couldn't put together a single-speed coaster brake, so I don't know..
Anyway. I am unsure about age and brand. I don't know much at all really, except that the headbadge says Sport80 Luxus, which is a compact folding bike made in the 70s in west germany. It also has the characteristics of this frame in the front end, which first made me think the rear could be a bolt-on tricycle kit. Now, while the rear IS bolted on, the dropouts on what would be the original frame is different, and incapable of holding a wheel. So it looks like the rear and front are definitely made for each other, but I can't be 100% sure. If it's a kit, it's an old one.. There is also some worn-out markings on the seattube. There's an old 3-speed shimano friction shifter, and a mount on the front fork for a dynamo (I think). 24"'s all aorund.
Any possible info on this bike, or even this type of bike, would be great, since I will have to fix the drive, stop the rust, grease etc. Anyway, here are some pics from this early winter morning.
Below is the place where the seller told me there was an issue. Something about 2 bent washers, that he straightened, but they bent again. He said it was an easy fix, but who knows..
So there it is. This will likely be my biggest project yet. Not sure what to do with it yet, so I'm open to suggestions..
Here's a bonus pic from what used to be my kitchen
