I am concerned about the "White" logo pain coming off of the tanker and other locations like pinstripe. What do I do? It has to get wet and washed at some point right?

Should I put some tipe of coating on there to prevent that?

Should I just strip down and start a full restoration?

Also -- WHY IS IT HAPPENING???? Is that normal?

Confused ...

The paint is so dried and oxidized its coming off.

Wash gently with soap and water. As strange as it sounds, I've used oil to wet down and rub into old car paint and give it some life, it's messy and a pain but it worked. Work the oil in with a rag, just let it sit for a few days, wash it back off a few times, and start waxing it.

Old detailer trick was to mix diesel with the wash water on old faded cars, same theory.

Just work slowly and gently, test areas on any suggestions you get, you have old brittle original paint, see what works.

The pinstripes may not survive, the paint was thinned to flow well, not much film build there, save as much as you can.
