I picked this Schwinn up today, tried to identify the year and/or model when I got it home. I could not find the serial number anywhere! It had been repainted 3 times, and after a little sanding here and there it became visible again on the left rear drop-out which would (in theory) tell me that it is a 52-69 bike. With the serial number visible, I still can't identify the year. The number is Y8571515... Odd? A couple pics below:

I figured since this one has been painted so many times already, I can paint it how I want. The springer front end and the seat appear to be repops, and wheels/tires are not original.

Can anyone ID this bike?

The numbers 0431 are stamped into the Schwinn neck badge... I noticed them before, but didn't think much of them...

I compared the "brake bridge" on the new bike vs. my 58, the 58 is curved for a fender to mount, where as this new bike is straight.

So this bike must not be very old, eh? All of the Schwinn Id number websites I have found only go up to 1982

Yeah, I noticed that too. I was told the "newer" frames were welded, but I dont exactly know how new... Yes the Springer froth end is a repop, and rides sketchy as heck LOL.

if it's Giant made 80s, there is generally a second set of numbers on the opposite side dropout, generally Gxxxx. that's how my predator is, so you might want to check the other side for hints of a stamping.

Hungarian made Heavy Duty 1991. Built one of these frames for my wife.
