I actually think it would be an easier build than the one I did this year because the "hook" would be the 2 faced paint so you wouldn't have to focus on alot of other details. Start with a rusty survivor, mask off half the bike and go to town on the other side. It would be fun, though most people on the street wouldn't understand, luckily most of them would only see 1 side. haha

To quote yoothgeye, "I just want to say that this whole vote thing has been a very humbling experience". When I started my build I like most everyone had hopes of finishing in the upper half of the vote but as I progressed I realized what I was building was much more Hot Rod than Ratrod. Even though I came to this realization I still had to finish my bike to satisfy myself and not worry about the voting. When you're upwards of 57, you've spent a lot of time honing your skills to build a polished product so that's what comes naturally to me. I'm not unhappy with my bike, just that I didn't get into the Rat mindset from the begining. There are some truly amazing bikes here that absolutely blew me away with their creativity and execution and hopefully if I do this again next year I'll learn from them. Thanks to everyone who left comments on my build and for the votes I got. See you here next year!

I like the build-off EXACTLY the way it is.
Sure, a few sub-categories seems like fun. Cause I too find some others besides the top three deserve some more praise, but things can get very complicated... Not only when come voting but also while competing. When I'm participating in the build-off I'd like to compete with EVERYBODY. Not only with the guys who are building diamondframes, for instance. Or the guys that use shiny paint. Etc. Also, you can use your three votes that way.
BTW, I don't see much difference in popularity looking at the voting towards rusty/ratty or shiny paintjobs. The majority of votes are based upon creativity, originality, craftsmanship, details, and last but not least: style.
Just build the bike you want. Compete, because that makes you try as hard as you can to build the best. And when it's time to vote, pick the bike you'd wish you had built yourself. Oh, and two extra bikes because we can't make up our minds :wink:
That way it can't be more clear who has built the best bike in the build-off, AND how far of you are with your build.
Extra praise and GENUINE complements can be posted as a comment in the threads of the builds. That is what I appreciate more than 'winning' a sub-category, btw...

But it's also fun to keep an eye on the lower regions. Those are small competitions on their own. My singlespeed hotrod is fighting battles for 20th, 19th, or 18th place with other mid-teen pointers. Very exciting. Makes me go to bed very late...

Its been quite a run , so many bikes ,so many choices I voted for Frightliner, Hard Luck,And KuttNhacks english forgot the name but I really ,really liked FatRat I made the whole family laugh on that one, and who would have guessed we would have had more than one Silverking frame entered, and I really though Roland was going to take it this year initially, but Double Nickel raised the bar again with his build and KOTA ,dude your bike just rocks!!!! thanks for all the votes guys ,it means alot.
