Possible pre-war Hawthorne find. Can any identify?

Hey guys and gals! I bought this bike about 4 months back and am finally doing something with it. I found it at an antique shop and stole the thing for a hefty $10! It was a complete bike. Anyway today I stripped it down the best I could in order to get it into a rider with a few parts. I plan to keep it as original as possible by clearing over the patina as well as using the wheels (could be dangerous lol), sprocket, and stem.

While I am confident that it is Pre-war I do not claim to know much about these and am wondering if anyone has any better idea to a more exact year and or what model this is. Here is what I have found.

Serial number reads: H04024

Has New Departure Model D hubs (obviously these may or may not be original)

Skip tooth setup with the heart sprocket

Just for fun the tubes are from "Clayton Supreme" which I have never heard of.

Anyway, I know I may not get an exact year or model but any info is greatly appreciated!

nice one, frame appears to be CWC.

could be a 42? last numbers inverted? idk but i would think twice about using that rear rim., you can see where the rust has eaten thru it.

It sure looks CWC to me, just post war...46? odd seat and schwinn chain ring...should be a nive riding bike when your through...nice find. If was prewar it would have drop stand tabs...

It's a lot like the 46 or 47 CWC Roadmaster I had. Same forks too. I understand the down tube was straight before 1946, and yours, like mine, is curved. I think your chain wheel is from a Schwinn, called a sweetheart sprocket. My serial number started with a J, but there's no number sequence that I've heard of on these.
For 10 bucks that's a steal!

I can not tell you the exact year, do some research on the Cabe. Your bike is Prewar for sure, they changed that slight bend on the down tube to the more pronounced, on the post war CWC 's.

Yea it is definitely questionable but for the sheer excitement and danger of it I will try to use it. No jumps or wheelies though lol.

That looks a lot like it! The area is very tight where the two horizontal bars meet below the seat like mine.
