picked up this sweet bike on CL for $85 today but i had no idea what it was.
the guy didnt know anything about it, he bought it in Sacramento 20yrs ago and hes been "fixing" it up since then.
nothing on it is original except the frame and possibly the chain gaurd
he says when he bought it the guy told him it was Pre-WWII, my LBS confirmed it. but no idea what it is. the guy at my LBS said it might be a schwinn or elgin. ive searched the databases but nothing.

anybody have any thoughts? *edit* (turned out to be a rollfast)

so today all i got done was some prep work
sprayed with aircraft paint remover. the bike has been painted every color of the rainbow. the paint remover was working to slow...

tomorrow im going to throw mud on some of the frames minor dings. Hopefully paint in the afternoon

thanks for the compliments
i like the military bike idea, i dont like the wording (fake) sorry

i didnt get as much accomplished today as i had hoped.

i must of mixed up a dozen batches of bondo. everytime i thought i was done ide find another imperfection somewhere. im kind of a perfectionist. i figure do it right the first time.

these pix are of halfway through the mud process. the bike sits in primer right now in the garage

paint day

base went down perfectly. nice and even. i was excited and was loving how it was comming out

then i shot clear.............AGH!

rustoleum is crap i hate it. the clear wasnt clear at all. it was milky! sprays horribly no way to spray it evenly. tons of runs and orange peel city.

the clear ruined everything. DO NOT BUY RUSTOLEUM ANYTHING

tomorrow im going to scuff and respray

how she sits right now. sad, cold and ugly

sorry for no recent updates. ive been busy with the holidays and curing nasty hangovers

**update**

i sanded off all the crappy rustoleum "clear" and i sprayed duplilcolor clear....which is AWESOME!
i used two half cans(small cans) so they equal one big can i guess

came out perfect, i left it overnight to cure and then i cleaned up all the original parts that came off the bike and put them back on.

i took apart the wheels. greased the hub and polished each spoke individually then laced the wheels myself. it was my first time and it went well. the wheels are true and ride great.

i put fenders on it.....looked to lowriderish so i took them off. took the original seat and switched it out for a white troxel seat

once all put together i took it out for a nice 15mile ride.

its the easiest bike to ride by far. its so smooth and the riding position is perfect.

definitely not done. its never done. ill eventually add more stuff as i go.

on with the pix.

Very nice. It seems to be a 38 or 39. I had one and they ride great. Sold it to get the x-114 build going. All you need now is a head badge!
