That's a testament to how good the chrome plating was back then.

....Yeah, but only on Schwinns! Look at most Columbias and AMFs from that era, and the chrome was pretty thin to start with!~Adam

Re: PROJECT 65 TRAVELER - (ASSEMBLED!!!!)

Received my seat from KZ1000 this week and that was the finishing piece for the bike.

She's not perfect, but she's clean and the 2 speed kickback hub stops and shifts great.

What I started with....

Sweet!
By far the prettiest colour any mfr. every sprayed on a bike. I've found that ANY Schwinn looks good in Coppertone!
Nice job cleaning her up. Very cool bike! 8)

I have a '63 Traveler in really great shape, too. Had a middle weight back wheel when I got it but that's been replaced. The head badge is really neat... all plastic with a starburst cast into it from the back side. Thought about repainting but it's way too good to mess with. I only gave 20 bucks for this thing about 5 years ago and I don't think I'll ever let it go.

Very nicely turned out. Way to go!
